Mrs. Leon

Melissa has had the joy of teaching kindergarten her first year here at Family Life Academy, in 2010-11. She has a BA in Early Childhood Education, from the University of Arizona. Melissa knew she wanted to teach even when she was a little girl. She grew up attending a Christian school, so she really has a heart for teaching here. One of her favorite things about teaching is being able to teach the love of God, and seeing the Lord work through her students. Melissa has been married to her best friend, Achilles Leon since June 2011. She and her husband attend church here at Christ Community and enjoy being involved. Melissa loves to go walking and running with her husband. The two of them also enjoy going hiking together. Melissa feels very blessed to be teaching at such a wonderful school, where she is able to worship and share the love of Jesus. She looks forward to many more years of teaching.

Kindergarten Supply List 2011-2012

Please clearly label the following items. They will not be shared.

1 student backpack large enough to hold a folder and a lunch box

1 Picture Bible published by David C. Cook-available at Christian book stores and     online

2 pocket folders (pocket on the bottom). Please label on top front cover

1 three pronged, solid colored, paper folder

2 Pencil boxes-plastic with lid (box should be 8 inches by 4 inches)

1 tri-fold kindergarten rest mat (a towel will also work fine)

The following items will be shared with the class:

2 boxes of crayons (24 pack is great!)

2 packages of #2 pencils – preferably made in America they sharpen better

1 box of colored pencils

1 pair of children size scissors

1 package of large watercolor markers

2 boxes of facial tissues

1 fun craft item (whatever your child enjoys getting for art projects)

1 package of low odor dry erase markers

2 large glue sticks (We are ALWAYS in need of gluesticks!!! Please bring more if you can! Thanks J)

1 bottle of hand sanitizer
