Mrs. Oppel
Louanne Oppel, a Southern California native, has been a Tucson resident since 1994. She and her husband Matt, a Captain on the Tucson Fire Department, have three spirited children: David, Ryan and Emily. The Oppel’s are members of Christ Community Church. Before coming to Tucson, Louanne received two bachelor’s degrees (and a husband) from Southwestern College in Phoenix. The first degree was in Church Music with an emphasis in Vocal Production, and the second in Elementary Education K-8 with an endorsement in K-12 music. Shortly after graduation (for the second time) Matt enlisted in the Army and they moved to North Carolina where Louanne got her first job teaching Gifted Education in the local public school. A year and a half later, she received her second endorsement in Gifted Education K-12. They returned to Tucson after almost four years and Louanne got a job teaching 3rd through 8th grade Gifted Education in the Amphitheater School District where she was for seven years. During the last year there, her son David came along and she quit teaching to be a stay-at-home mom.
In 2007, Louanne accepted a position here at Family Life Academy teaching 1st grade. Although the majority of her teaching career had been with older students, she has enjoyed the challenge of the little ones. Louanne is grateful for the opportunity to teach here at Family LIfe Academy and, as long as the Lord sees fit, hopes to stay here where God is so obviously at work.
