Kindergarten

The Kindergarteners are learning about lines, using our new friends, Mr. Wavy and Mr. Zig Zag. They will learn about how artists use lines and the students will create art while thinking about how they use lines.

First, Second and Third Grades

Students in grades one through three are learning about Henri Matisse’s collages. Each child will create a piece of artwork along the lines of Matisse’s collages.

Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Grades

The students in grades four through six are learning about Michaelangelo’s Pieta and the world of the Renaissance.

Kindergarten

Kindergarteners are learning about how artists use color. They are learning about how artists use color to express their feelings and ideas. The children are experimenting with mixing colors and learning about primary and secondary colors.

First, Second and Third Grades

Students in grades one through three are studying Claude Monet’s bridge series. They are learning about the Impressionist movement, which continues to impact the art world to this day. We are hoping to follow in the steps of the Impressionists and go outside to create some art.

Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Grades

This year students in grades four through six will sweep through about six centuries of European and American art. We are beginning this study discussing what happened to art during the Renaissance when artists discovered the fundamentals of perspective, focusing on horizon lines and vanishing points.
